Best Time to Visit Garden of Caves

The Garden of Caves, located in Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra, in Meghalaya, India, is best experienced during the post-monsoon months from September to May. Cherrapunji, being one of the wettest places on Earth, witnesses heavy rainfall during the monsoon season from June to August. During this period, the Garden of Caves may not be as accessible, and the paths can be slippery and dangerous. However, once the monsoon retreats, the area transforms into a lush, verdant paradise with waterfalls at their full glory, and the caves become safer to explore.

From September to May, the weather in the region is generally pleasant, with minimal rainfall ensuring that the caves and the natural rock formations are accessible. This is the time when you can fully appreciate the beauty of the limestone structures and the rich biodiversity of the region. October and November are particularly favorable for those looking to enjoy the serene environment without the disturbances of heavy tourist traffic, as the peak season usually begins in December and stretches through May. However, for those interested in botany and exploring the exotic flora, the spring months of April and May can be exceptionally rewarding when the region blooms with vibrant flowers and greenery.
