Best Time To Visit Ghibli Museum (Tokyo) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Ghibli Museum, Tokyo, Japan

The Ghibli Museum, dedicated to the art and technique of animation, is a popular attraction located in Mitaka, Tokyo. The museum showcases the work of the renowned Studio Ghibli, known for creating iconic films like "My Neighbor Totoro," "Spirited Away," and "Princess Mononoke." For an optimal visiting experience, the best times to visit the Ghibli Museum are typically during the weekday mornings, shortly after opening, to avoid the weekend and holiday crowds.

Moreover, the museum's attendance is often lower during Japan's off-peak travel seasons, such as late autumn (November to early December) and late winter (February to mid-March), which can provide a more tranquil environment to enjoy the exhibits. It's important to note that the Ghibli Museum requires advance purchase of tickets for specific entry dates and times; they are not sold at the museum itself. Plan ahead to secure your spot, especially if traveling during Japan's busy seasons such as the cherry blossom period in spring or the summer holidays.
