Govardhan Hill, also known as Giriraj Mountain, is located in the town of Govardhan in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, India. This sacred hill is revered by Hindus for its legendary association with Lord Krishna. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill on his little finger to protect the people of Braj from the wrath of the rain god, Indra. This event is celebrated annually as 'Govardhan Puja'. The hill is made up of sandstone and stands around 80 feet high with a circumference of approximately 21 kilometers. Pilgrims from all over the world come to perform 'Parikrama' (circumambulation) around the hill, a symbol of their devotion. Surrounding the hill are several temples and kunds (water tanks) like Mansi Ganga Kund and Haridev Mandir, which add to the area's religious significance. Aside from its religious aspect, the region is also known for its natural beauty, with lush vegetation and numerous peacocks. The area around Govardhan is a vibrant mix of tradition and natural tranquility, attracting both pilgrims and tourists.

Must visit temple in Govardhan. Pay obeisance to the Govardhan Parvat which Lord Krishna held on his little finger.
