Kusum Sarovar is a historical sandstone reservoir located in the Govardhan area of Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is a serene spot that stretches out over a length of 450 feet and is approximately 60 feet deep. The reservoir is flanked by a series of ghats (steps) where pilgrims and tourists can descend to the water level to engage in religious rituals or to simply bask in the ambiance of this ancient site. The name Kusum Sarovar translates to 'Lake of Flowers,' and it is associated with the pastimes of Radha and Krishna. This picturesque water body is surrounded by a beautifully manicured garden and numerous cenotaphs. The ghats and cenotaphs around Kusum Sarovar are intricately carved, representing the architectural prowess of the bygone era. The sarovar also features a chhatri (dome-shaped pavilions) dedicated to historic figures Maharaja Suraj Mal and his consorts, which are adorned with exquisite paintings depicting various scenes of Radha-Krishna leela (divine play), adding to the historical and spiritual significance of the location.
