Jaigad Lighthouse stands tall on a cliff offering an astounding view of the Arabian Sea. Situated in the Ratnagiri district, atop a hill at the entrance of the Sangameshwar river, this lighthouse was established in 1832. It is a significant navigational landmark for vessels sailing the western coast of India. Built by the British, the lighthouse is still functional and plays a crucial role in maritime safety. Visitors can climb up the spiral staircase to reach the top balcony, where they're welcomed by a panoramic view of the sea and the surrounding lush landscape. The structure itself is a stark white building, typically serene against the blue backdrop of the sea, and it's a popular spot for photographers and nature lovers alike. The Jaigad Fort, an old maritime fortification, is located nearby and together with the lighthouse makes for an enriched historical experience. The tranquil atmosphere and the majestic view of the sunset from the lighthouse make it a desirable location for a peaceful retreat.

Sceneic location
It is located at extreme corner of the town but must be visited to capture panoramic view of Arabian sea. Since 5pm is closing time, must be planned accordingly.

Smaller sibling to the Ratnagiri LH
We took a pit stop after visiting the Jaigad fort. It's a smaller setup than the one at Ratnagiri, but still worth a visit. Place is well maintained and there are quite a few photo ops available
