Jingshan Park, known in Chinese as Jingshan Gongyuan, is a prominent imperial park situated in the heart of Beijing, China. The park covers an area of 23 hectares and is located on the central axis of Beijing, directly north of the Forbidden City. It is renowned for its artificial hill called Jingshan Hill, which was constructed from the soil excavated to create the moat of the Forbidden City. This hill offers panoramic views of the surrounding city, especially the Forbidden City itself. Jingshan Park is characterized by its lush gardens, pavilions, and cultural significance. It was originally a private imperial garden and later opened to the public. Five individual peaks adorn the hill, each with its own pavilion, where emperors would often visit for rituals and leisure. The park is an excellent example of traditional Chinese horticultural design and has been a site of significant historical events, including the last Ming emperor's suicide. Today, it serves as a cultural heritage site and a tranquil retreat from the bustling city, attracting tourists and locals looking to enjoy its natural beauty and historic landscape.
