From Riyadh and other cities: For those coming from Riyadh or other cities within Saudi Arabia, the country has an extensive network of highways that lead to Mecca. The journey from Riyadh to Mecca is approximately 900 kilometers and can take around 9 hours by car.
There are bus services provided by the Saudi Arabian Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) that offer trips to Mecca from different cities within the country. These are convenient and economical options, especially for travelers already within the Kingdom.
The Haramain High-Speed Railway connects Mecca with Medina, Jeddah, and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The station in Mecca is located at Rusaifah, near the entrance to the Grand Mosque. This is one of the fastest ways to travel to Mecca from these cities.
It's important to note that non-Muslims are not permitted to enter the sacred city of Mecca; this rule is strictly enforced. All pilgrims must meet certain visa requirements established by the Saudi government and carry the necessary documentation for entry, which usually includes a Hajj or Umrah visa.
Once you arrive in Mecca, there are numerous accommodation options ranging from budget hotels to luxury suites, many within close proximity to the Masjid al-Haram, where the Kaaba is located. Due to the high demand, especially during the Hajj season, it's imperative to book your accommodation well in advance.
