Kamru Fort is an ancient fort located in the picturesque Kamru village which is 2 km from the Sangla Valley in Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India. At an altitude of 2600 meters above sea level, it stands as a silent sentinel to the bygone era, crowned by an elegant wood-and-stone structure with an idol of Kamakhya Devi (Kamakshi Devi) installed in its third-floor chamber. The fort, adorned with intricate wooden carvings and historical artifacts, is composed of a unique blend of Tibetan and indigenous Himalayan architecture. The entrance to the fort is characterized by a series of gates, the main one being adorned by a grand image of Lord Buddha. The path leading up to Kamru Fort weaves through apple orchards and is lined with traditional Kinnauri houses. Surrounded by towering mountains, lush green valleys, and a tranquil atmosphere, it provides a serene escape into nature and history.
