Rakcham is a quaint village situated in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Lying between the towns of Sangla and Chitkul, it is perched at an altitude of around 3050 meters above sea level. The region is known for its picturesque landscapes, with snow-capped mountains, lush green meadows, and the fast-flowing Baspa River. Rakcham is typical of a pastoral landscape with animals grazing on the vast expanses of green. The indigenous architecture of wooden houses with slate roofs is a distinctive feature of the area, along with terraced fields that mark the agriculture of the region. The villagers are primarily engaged in farming and livestock herding. The culture is rich, and visitors often get to witness traditional Kinnauri dresses and customs. It is less commercialized than nearby tourist spots, which makes it a perfect destination for those seeking tranquility and unspoiled natural beauty.
