By Air
If you are traveling from outside Taiwan, the closest international airports are Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) and Taipei's Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). From these airports, you can continue your journey to Kenting by bus, car rental or train:
- Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) to Kenting: The distance is approximately 100 km. Buses are available from the airport or Kaohsiung city center to Kenting, usually taking about two hours. Alternatively, you can rent a car or take a taxi.
- Taipei's Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Kenting: It is much farther, around 420 km. Travelers typically take the High-Speed Rail (HSR) to Zuoying (left camp) Station in Kaohsiung, then switch to a bus or a rented car.
By High-Speed Rail (HSR)
If you are already in Taiwan, the High-Speed Rail can take you from major cities to Zuoying Station in Kaohsiung, where you can transfer to other forms of transportation:
- At Zuoying Station, you can find regular bus services to Kenting, which will take about 2 to 2.5 hours.
- Car rentals are also available at Zuoying Station for those who prefer to drive themselves.
By Train
Regular trains run to Fangliao train station. From there, you can:
- Take the Pingtung Bus to Kenting. Tickets can be purchased at the station, and the travel time is around one hour.

By Bus
Direct bus services from major cities like Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung are also available. The Kenting Express Bus connects Zuoying HSR Station directly to Kenting and is a popular and convenient option.
By Car
If you are comfortable driving in Taiwan, renting a car can give you the most freedom to explore. Directions are straightforward:
- From Kaohsiung, take the Provincial Highway 1 or the Southern Cross-Island Highway to Kenting National Park.
- From Taipei, take the National Freeway 1 (Sun Yat-Sen Freeway) to Kaohsiung and then follow the directions above from Kaohsiung to Kenting.
Remember to check the local traffic regulations and have a valid driving permit.
