Traveling to Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang
Via Beijing: Most trips to North Korea start from Beijing, China. There are regular flights from Beijing Capital International Airport to Pyongyang Sunan International Airport operated by Air Koryo, the national airline of North Korea, as well as occasional flights by Air China.
By Train: There is also a train service from Beijing to Pyongyang which takes approximately 24 hours, including the time spent for customs and immigration at the border.
Arriving in Pyongyang: Once in Pyongyang, visitors will be met by their North Korean guides, who will manage the itinerary. Independent travel within North Korea is not allowed.
Traveling to Kim Il-sung Square: The square is centrally located, and access is typically on foot or by bus during a guided tour of the city. It is in close proximity to landmark locations such as the Grand People's Study House and the Juche Tower.
Important Considerations:
- Ensure you have all necessary visas and permits for North Korea.
- Follow all guidelines provided by your tour operator concerning photography, interactions with locals, and travel restrictions within the country.
- Dress, speak, and act respectfully, as tour guides and other officials will expect compliance with local customs and laws.
Since North Korea is highly isolated and controls all tourism tightly, it is also advisable to thoroughly research and prepare for the trip by consulting with the chosen travel agency and reviewing travel advisories from your home country's foreign affairs department or embassy.
