Malana Village, located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India, is an ancient village that is steeped in mystery and known for its unique culture and governance system, which is said to be one of the oldest forms of democracy. Nestled in the Malana Nala, a side valley of the Parvati Valley to the north-east of Kullu Valley, it is surrounded by majestic peaks of Chanderkhani and Deo Tibba. The village is isolated from the hustle of city life and can be accessed via a trek. Malana has its own language, known as Kanashi, and its inhabitants believe they are the descendants of Alexander the Great's soldiers. The village's social structure is highly stratified and they follow a strict set of customs. Malana is also known for its Malana Cream, a high-quality cannabis hashish. Despite its popularity among trekkers and backpackers, Malana remains a place shrouded in secrecy, with villagers maintaining a distance from outsiders to preserve their purity.
