Pandoh Dam Tourism

The Pandoh Dam is a monumental structure built over the Beas River in Mandi district, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India. Construction of the dam began in 1961 and was completed in 1977 as part of the Pandoh-Baggi Tunnel project, aimed at generating hydroelectricity. The dam's main purpose is to divert water from the Beas River to the southwest into the Sutlej River, supporting the Beas-Sutlej link project. It plays a crucial role in providing electricity to the northern regions of India. The dam is approximately 76 meters in height and 1,829 meters in length, showcasing engineering expertise. Surrounded by the picturesque landscape of Kullu Valley, the site of the dam is a popular stopover for tourists on their way to Manali. The mesmerizing views of water, mountains, and the dam itself offer a tranquil escape and make it an excellent location for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers.
