Manipur Zoological Gardens Tourism
Type of destination: Zoological Park
The Manipur Zoological Gardens, nestled in the picturesque terrains of the Imphal Valley at Iroishemba on the western outskirts of Imphal, spans approximately 8 hectares. It is flanked by the majestic pine-clad hills of the region. Established in 1976, the zoo is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, focusing on the conservation of rare and endemic species. It is particularly renowned for the endangered Sangai deer, also known as the dancing deer, which is endemic to Manipur. The well-maintained enclosures allow visitors to observe the animals in habitats that closely resemble their natural surroundings. The scenic beauty, coupled with the rich biodiversity, makes the Manipur Zoological Gardens not just a hub for wildlife enthusiasts but also an educational site for conservation efforts. The park is adorned with vibrant flower beds and a variety of plant species, adding to its serene ambience. Aside from the Sangai, the zoo houses a number of mammals, reptiles, and avian species, providing a comprehensive glimpse into the region's ecosystem.

small but good
This is like a zoo but since it is well maintained, you may find it better than other big zoos in India.
