Best Time To Visit Melghat Tiger Reserve (Amravati) In 2026 - 2027

Understanding the Ideal Visiting Seasons

The best time to visit Melghat Tiger Reserve in Amravati, Maharashtra, is during the cooler months from October to February. During this period, the climate is pleasant, with temperatures ranging from a comfortable 8°C to 30°C. This season is excellent for wildlife spotting as animals, including the majestic tigers, are often seen near water bodies, making it a prime time for enthusiasts and photographers to get a glimpse of the varied fauna. The cool weather is conducive to going on long safaris without the discomfort that the searing heat of the summer months would bring.

In contrast, the Reserve remains closed for visitors during the monsoon season from July to September due to heavy rainfall, which can cause flooding and make the dirt tracks treacherous. The summer months from March to June, although hot, are also a good time for wildlife sighting, especially near waterholes. However, visitors should be prepared for the high temperatures that can soar up to 40°C. Hence, irrespective of the palpable heat, those willing to endure the conditions might still consider summer for the increased likelihood of spotting wildlife.
