Mulbekh Monastery, also known as Mulbekh Gompa, is located in Mulbekh village in the Kargil district of Ladakh, in northern India. Situated on the Srinagar-Leh highway, it is approximately 36 kilometers east of Kargil. This Buddhist monastery is perched atop a hill and is famous for its two gompas, belonging to the Drukpa and Gelugpa sects of Tibetan Buddhism. It is renowned for housing a 9-meter high rock sculpture of Maitreya Buddha, which is thought to date back to the 8th century.
