Best Time to Visit Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India

Muzaffarpur, known as the "Lychee Kingdom," has a climate that can greatly affect your travel experience, so choosing the right time of year to visit is key. The ideal time to visit Muzaffarpur is during the cool and pleasant months of November to February. During this period, the weather is generally mild, making it comfortable for sightseeing and exploring the region. The temperatures during these months range from a cool 12°C to a comfortable 28°C. This season is favorable for tourists as it avoids the scorching heat of the summer and the heavy monsoon rains. Winters are also a time when the city hosts various cultural festivals, which can be a huge draw for those interested in experiencing local traditions and festivities.

If you are interested specifically in seeing the luscious lychees for which Muzaffarpur is renowned, you might consider visiting during the lychee harvest season, which occurs from the last week of May to the end of June. Keep in mind that the summer months leading up to the monsoon season, which are from March to June, can be extremely hot, with temperatures soaring above 40°C. This heat can be quite overwhelming, particularly for those not accustomed to such high temperatures. The monsoon season, spanning from July to October, brings heavy rainfall, which can disrupt travel plans and outdoor activities. Therefore, it is generally advised to plan your trip outside of the monsoon and extreme summer heat for the most comfortable experience.
