Best Time to Visit Nohkalikai Waterfalls, Cherrapunji

The Nohkalikai Waterfalls is a spectacular sight in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, India, and one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in the country. The best time to visit Nohkalikai is during the monsoon season which typically runs from June to September. During these months, the region receives heavy rainfall, and the waterfalls are in their full glory, cascading down with immense force and a thunderous roar. The lush green surroundings and the misty clouds that often hug the waterfalls add to the enchanting beauty of the place, creating a breathtaking view that is a feast for the eyes and the soul.

However, if you're not a fan of heavy rains and prefer a more subdued experience, the post-monsoon months of October and November can be an excellent alternative. Although the flow of the waterfall decreases compared to the monsoon months, the weather is much more pleasant, and the water still maintains a good volume. This period offers clearer skies and better visibility, making it ideal for photography and comfortable for trekking down to the base or viewpoints for a splendid view of the waterfall. It is important to note that during the winter and pre-monsoon season, which stretches from December to May, the water volume significantly reduces, and the waterfall might not be as impressive as during the peak monsoon period.
