The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, also known as the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, is one of Ho Chi Minh City's most iconic landmarks. Erected by French colonists between 1863 and 1880, the cathedral stands as a testament to the French influence in Vietnam. Its two bell towers reach a height of 58 meters, making the basilica a prominent feature of the city skyline. With red brick facades imported from Marseille and stained glass windows, its neo-Romanesque architecture is an exception in a city where modern buildings are more common. It’s not only a place of worship but also a considerable attraction for both tourists and local residents. The statue of the Virgin Mary, which is said to have shed tears in 2005, contributes to its mystique and popularity. Since October 2017, the cathedral has been undergoing extensive renovation, hence visitors are only able to view it from the outside. Nonetheless, its striking edifice against the bustling city backdrop continues to fascinate passersby and photographers.

Interesting
Centrally located this church is quite beautiful. It is free to enter and it does not take long to visit it. Great option when walking around the city centre.

This is the oldest church in the Americas. It is small but something to see. The altar is incredible. We would recommend seeing this church during a visit to Quebec City.
