Ooty Botanical Gardens Tourism

The Ooty Botanical Gardens, situated in the picturesque town of Ooty, in Tamil Nadu, India, cover an expansive 22 hectares and are enriched with a variety of exotic and indigenous plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants. Established in 1848 by the Marquis of Tweeddale, these gardens are maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department and embody the charm of nature with the orderliness of human design. The gardens lie on the lower slopes of Doddabetta peak, the highest point in Ooty. This garden is divided into several sections that include a fern house, orchid house, and a section for medicinal plants. It also features a 20-million-year-old fossilized tree. The highlight of the Gardens is the annual flower show that draws tourists from all over the world. The enchanting terraced layout, the lush green lawns, and the colorful flower beds make it a visual delight for visitors.
