St. Stephen's Church is one of the oldest and most renowned landmarks in Ooty, Tamil Nadu, India. Constructed during the British Raj in the 19th century, specifically in the year 1829, the church stands as an example of colonial architecture with noteworthy Gothic elements. It was consecrated by John Matthias Turner, the Bishop of Calcutta, on November 5, 1830. The timber for the church was transported from Tipu Sultan's palace from Srirangapatna, and the main beam of the church is said to have been a gift from the Sultan. The church's stained glass windows, intricately designed plaques, and wooden beams add to its stunning aesthetics, while the serene environment gives visitors a sense of peace and spirituality. The church, with its history and architectural beauty, draws not only those who seek spiritual solace but also history enthusiasts and tourists who admire its calm and majestic presence amidst the lush greenery of Ooty.
