Pamban Bridge is a marvel of engineering that spans over the Palk Strait, connecting the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. Opened in 1914, it was India's first sea bridge and remained the longest sea bridge in the country until the opening of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in 2010. The Pamban Bridge is approximately 2.3 kilometers long and stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of the early 20th century. It is a cantilever bridge that opens to allow ferry and boat movement beneath it. This iconic structure, with the vast expanse of the sea beneath it and seemingly endless horizons around, is not just a transportation route but also a tourist attraction, offering breathtaking views and an exhilarating experience to all who travel across it. Venturing across it, one can witness the stark blue of the ocean, occasionally dotted with the colors of fishing boats and the contrast of the sandy hues of the island's shores.
