The Pancha Ratna Temple of Bishnupur is a historical shrine located in Bishnupur, West Bengal, India. It was built during the reign of King Raghunath Singha Dev II in 1643. The temple is a splendid example of the classic Bishnupur style of architecture, characterized by a curvilinear tower on a square base. Its name 'Pancha Ratna' refers to the five ('pancha') pinnacles ('ratnas') that adorn the structure's roof. Crafted chiefly from laterite and brick, the temple's walls are richly decorated with terracotta plaques depicting scenes from the epics, social life, floral and geometric patterns, and other contemporary social scenes. The temple originally served as a place to worship Radha and Krishna and at present stands as an icon of the rich cultural heritage of the region. It is part of the Material Heritage due to its unique architecture and historical significance, attracting tourists and art enthusiasts from around the world.
