Penang Hill, also known as Bukit Bendera, is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks on Penang Island, Malaysia. It's located within the Air Itam suburb, 6 kilometers away from George Town. Standing at 833 meters above sea level, it offers a panoramic view of the island and mainland. The hill is notable for its much cooler climate compared to the lowlands, due to its elevation. Penang Hill was the first colonial hill station developed in Peninsular Malaysia. Comprising Western Hill, Bukit Laksamana, Tiger Hill, Flagstaff Hill and Government Hill, it is an important bio-diverse area, hosting a variety of flora and fauna. The funicular railway to the top is a popular tourist attraction, providing breathtaking views as it ascends. At the summit, visitors can enjoy the landscaped gardens, a mosque, Hindu temple, restaurants, and the historical Bel Retiro bungalow. Activities such as hiking, bird watching, and photography are prevalent. Penang Hill also serves as an important ecological site, with efforts in place to preserve its natural environment.
