Rajsamand Lake, also known as Rajsamudra Lake, is a significant historical and cultural destination located approximately 66 kilometers north of Udaipur in the state of Rajasthan, India. Created in the 17th century by Maharana Raj Singh I as a result of a dam constructed across the Gomati, Kelwa, and Tali rivers, the lake is famed for its stunning marble embankments adorned with exquisite Rajput architectural carvings and historical inscriptions. It spans an area of around 67 square kilometers and played a critical role in the water management system for the region. The 'Nauchowki' or Nine Pavilions is a noteworthy feature here, which are a series of marble embankments that are remarkable for their intricate carvings. The lake is also accompanied by beautiful terraces, stone steps, and scenic views of the surrounding hills and palaces, making it a picturesque location for visitors. It serves as a vital resource for the local communities, supporting agriculture and providing livelihoods for many. While it is a spot of heritage importance, Rajsamand Lake is also an idyllic place for picnics, boat rides, and observing serene sunsets.
