Ramatheertham is a village located in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, India, known for its historical and religious significance. The village boasts the ancient Sri Rama Temple, which dates back over 1,000 years, positioned atop the Gurubhaktulakonda hill. The temple, dedicated to Lord Rama, is a revered pilgrimage site embodying Dravidian architectural style. Ramatheertham's temple complex holds a monumental sanctum sanctorum, with Lord Rama idol flanked by Sita and Lakshmana. The idol, carved from a single black stone, emanates a compelling spiritual aura. According to mythology, the temple was consecrated by sage Kandanvavatsa, one of Lord Rama's ardent devotees. The site also includes a large tank called Ramatheertham, which is believed to have been created by Lord Rama. As an embodiment of ancient heritage, the architecture of Ramatheertham and its serene surroundings offer visitors a glimpse into the devout and storied past of this region. The tranquility of the temple coupled with panoramic views from the hill makes Ramatheertham an ideal destination for pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike.

A great place for half a day. Not worth doing in a rush. Suitable for all ages, but knee issues could be a spoil sport

Old temple
The temple visit is very old. But still nicely maintained. The temple is near to Vizianagaram but is lest supported by archeological team or the government. The rock is aging 1000 years as it is told.
