By Air:
Travelers can fly to Lhasa Gonggar Airport (LXA), which is the main airport serving Lhasa. Airlines such as Air China, Tibet Airlines, and Sichuan Airlines operate flights to Lhasa from various cities across China. After arriving at the airport, you can:
- Take a taxi directly to Ramoche Temple. The drive takes about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
- Use the airport shuttle bus service to get to central Lhasa, and from there, you can hire a taxi or a rickshaw to reach the temple.
By Train:
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway connects Lhasa with several major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. Upon arriving at Lhasa Railway Station:
- The temple is about 20 minutes away by taxi.
- Public buses and minibusses are available from the station that will drop you closer to the city center, where Ramoche Temple is within walking distance or a short taxi ride.
By Road:
If you are already in Tibet or in nearby regions, you may opt to reach Lhasa by road. The temple is accessible via the Chinese national highway network. Bus services, private cars, and tours operate to Lhasa from various towns and cities. Once in Lhasa:
- Ramoche Temple is situated north of the Jokhang Temple.
- It is recommended to travel by local taxi or to book a car through your hotel or a travel agency for ease of travel.
Local Transport in Lhasa:
Within Lhasa, you can use a variety of modes to reach Ramoche Temple:
- Taxis are convenient and can be hailed on most major streets.
- Electric rickshaws are a popular and environmentally friendly way to travel short distances.
- Public buses are available, but you may need to walk a bit to reach the temple depending on the bus route.
Please note that some areas of the city, including sections near Ramoche Temple, may be restricted or require travelers to be accompanied by an official guide due to local regulations.
