Ratnadurg Fort, also known as Ratnagiri Fort, is a historic fort located in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. Perched on a headland overlooking the Arabian Sea, the fort covers an area of approximately 120 acres. It was originally constructed during the Bahamani period and later captured by Adil Shah and subsequently by the Maratha Empire under the command of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1670. The fort encompasses a Ganpati temple that is a beacon of devotion for the locals. The Bhagawati Temple inside the fortress is a major attraction, especially during Navaratri celebrations. The fort is structured in the shape of a horseshoe and is surrounded by the sea on three sides. Its majestic walls and bastions have stood the test of time, bearing silent testimony to many historical events. Ratnadurg Fort is not only significant for its historical importance but also for the panoramic views of the sea it offers, making it a favorite spot for tourists and history enthusiasts.

My experience
The importance and layout of the fort should be brought out by sketch or pamphlet at the entry which is not done. Could understand the layout only by referrin to internet. Not a tourist friendly place..

This fort is high on a mountain but when you reach there you will have no regrets as the place will refresh your soul. Go during the evenings as it is very hot.
