Semenggoh Nature Reserve, also known as Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, is a renowned wildlife park located in Sarawak, near Kuching, Malaysia. Spanning over 653 hectares, the center is a sanctuary for numerous wild animals, but it is most famous for its orangutan rehabilitation program. Established in 1975, the reserve provides a safe haven for orphaned, injured, or displaced orangutans, with the primary objective of rehabilitating them back into the wild. Visitors to Semenggoh can witness these magnificent primates in their natural habitat during feeding times, which is an extraordinary experience. The reserve also serves as a research facility for the study and observation of orangutan behavior. The lush forests of the reserve are home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, offering a splendid display of Borneo's unique biodiversity. Birdwatching is another rewarding activity here, with the chance to spot a variety of bird species. The peaceful surroundings and well-maintained trails provide an invigorating escape into nature. Semenggoh is not just a tourist attraction but an important educational and conservation site, underscoring the criticality of wildlife preservation.
