Best Time To Visit Sheesh Nag (Pahalgam) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Sheesh Nag, Pahalgam, Kashmir

The optimal time to visit Sheesh Nag in Pahalgam, Kashmir is during the summer months from June to August. During this period, the weather is most favorable for tourists, with temperatures ranging from a comfortable 15°C to 30°C. These months offer clear skies and a vibrant display of flora around the lake. The summer season is ideal for trekking to Sheesh Nag, as the snow from the winter months has melted, revealing lush meadows and allowing for more comfortable trekking conditions. It is the time when the famous Amarnath Yatra takes place, and many pilgrims pass by Sheesh Nag, adding to the location's spiritual atmosphere.

However, if you want to avoid the crowds associated with the pilgrimage and enjoy a more tranquil experience, consider visiting just before or after the Yatra commences, which is around late May or September. The lake remains accessible and retains much of its natural beauty during these times, but visitor numbers are lower. Keep in mind that temperatures begin to drop in September and snow can start falling as early as October, making passage to Sheesh Nag more challenging. Therefore, for the best experience in terms of weather and accessibility while still avoiding peak tourist times, aim for the periods at the edges of the summer season.
