Best Time to Visit Similipal National Park

Similipal National Park, located in the northeastern region of Odisha, India, is a renowned biosphere reserve known for its diverse wildlife and stunning waterfalls. The park experiences a tropical monsoon climate, with distinct wet and dry seasons. The best time to visit Similipal National Park is between the months of November and June. The Park usually opens for tourists on the 1st of November every year, marking the commencement of the tourist season. During these months, the weather is pleasantly cool and dry, making it ideal for wildlife sightings and exploration. The temperature ranges from 14°C to 30°C, providing a comfortable atmosphere for tourists to enjoy the lush greenery and spot various species such as tigers, elephants, and leopards, among others.

However, the most optimal period for visitors keen on observing wildlife and engaging in safari expeditions within the park would be between February and May. During this time, as the summer heat gradually intensifies with temperatures climbing up to 40°C, animals are often found congregating around water bodies, making them easier to spot. Meanwhile, for those interested in the park's floral aspects, especially to witness the Orchidarium or the vibrant blooms, visiting right after the monsoon season, around late February to early March, would be particularly rewarding. It's critical to note that Similipal is closed during the monsoon period, typically from mid-June to October, due to heavy rains that make the roads inaccessible and safari tours unfeasible.
