Sringeri Mutt, officially known as Sringeri Sharada Peetham, is a renowned spiritual center in Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, India. Established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century CE, it is one of the four major Advaita Vedanta mathas. The mutt is located on the banks of the Tunga River and is dedicated to Goddess Sharadamba, the embodiment of wisdom and learning. The architecture of the temple complex showcases traditional South Indian design with gopurams, intricate carvings, and beautiful sculptures. The Vidyashankara temple within the complex, with its 12 zodiac pillars that are positioned in such a way that the sun's rays fall on each of them in the order of the solar months, is an architectural marvel.
