Sukhna Lake Mohali Tourism

Sukhna Lake, situated in Mohali (officially known as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), Punjab, India, is a manmade reservoir at the foothills of the Himalayas, the Shivalik hills. It was created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream descending from the hills. As a serene water body, Sukhna Lake stretches across 3 km and is the venue for many festive celebrations. It is an integral part of the city of Chandigarh and shares its border with Mohali. Designed by the Swiss-French modernist architect, Le Corbusier, the lake complements the city's aesthetic and has become a popular spot for morning jogs, evening strolls, yoga, and a variety of water sports. Surrounded by a lush green promenade and a well-maintained garden, it is a sanctuary for many exotic and migratory birds, making it an excellent place for bird watching. The lake is a perfect blend of natural splendor and urban sophistication.
