Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve Tourism

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, often referred to as 'The Jewel of Vidarbha', is located in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, India. Spread over an area of about 625.4 square kilometers, it represents one of India's 47 project tiger reserves. The reserve includes the Tadoba National Park and the Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary, and it is named after the local tribal god 'Taru' and the Andhari river that meanders through the forest. The diverse topography features rolling hills, verdant meadows, and a thick teak forest which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. It boasts a significant tiger population along with leopards, sloth bears, gaur, nilgai, wild dogs, and spotted deer, amongst others. Tadoba is also an ornithologist's paradise with a variety of bird species. The Tadoba Lake sustains the marsh crocodile population which was once common all over Maharashtra. The reserve also plays a pivotal role in providing livelihood and resources to the local community while also promoting conservation awareness.
