By Air

Bagan is served by Nyaung-U Airport (NYU), which is the nearest airport to the Tharabar Gate. You can take a flight from Yangon, Mandalay, or other airports within Myanmar. After arriving at Nyaung-U Airport, you can hire a taxi or arrange for a hotel pickup to Tharabar Gate, which is about a 20-minute drive.

By Bus

Long-distance buses are available from Yangon, Mandalay, and other major cities in Myanmar to Bagan. Bagan's bus terminal is located in Nyaung-U. From the bus terminal, you can take a taxi or a local tuk-tuk to reach Tharabar Gate, which is located within the Bagan Archaeological Zone.

By Train

Bagan can also be reached by train from Yangon and Mandalay. The train journey can be quite long, but it offers a scenic view of the rural countryside. Please note, the train station is in Nyaung-U, similar to the airport. You would still need to arrange for transport from the train station to Tharabar Gate.

By Car or Motorcycle
