Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) is the main international gateway for travelers coming to Bologna. From the airport, there are several options to reach the Two Towers in the city center:
If you are arriving by train, Bologna Centrale is the main train station serving high-speed and regional trains from numerous Italian cities, such as Milan, Rome, Florence, and Venice. The Two Towers are within walking distance from the station:
For those who prefer to take a bus, the city's public transport service, TPER, provides numerous buses that serve the route from the train station to the city center. Tickets can be purchased at kiosks, vending machines or from the bus driver.
Those driving can reach Bologna via the A1 (Autostrada del Sole), which connects Milan to Naples via Bologna, or the A14, if coming from the Adriatic coast. Be aware that parking in the city center is limited and there are ZTL (Limited Traffic Zones) areas where you cannot drive without a permit. It is advisable to park outside the ZTL and then walk or take public transport to the towers.
Once in Bologna's historical center, the Two Towers are hard to miss due to their prominence in the cityscape. They are located at Piazza di Porta Ravegnana and are open to the public, although climbing the Torre degli Asinelli (the taller one) is subject to opening hours and an entrance fee.
