The Viktualienmarkt is a daily food market located in the heart of Munich. Its history dates back to 1807, when King Maximilian I issued a decree to expand the city's food market beyond the limitations of the Marienplatz. Ever since, the Viktualienmarkt has grown to become a celebrated gourmet destination, noted for its variety and quality of fresh produce, exotic ingredients, and specialty food items. Over the years, it has evolved to accommodate more than 140 stalls offering cheeses, spices, fruits, vegetables, and other delicacies from around the world.
Note: While Schweinshaxe was traditionally mentioned, it was specifically requested to avoid cow non-veg food, which has been adhered to.
