How to Reach Wat Chalong Temple, Phuket, Thailand

Wat Chalong, or Chalong Temple, is one of Phuket's most important and visited Buddhist temples, located in the Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. Here are the ways to reach Wat Chalong Temple:

Via Public Transportation

While Phuket's public transportation system is not as comprehensive as in other places, there are options available:

• Local Bus: You can take a local bus, also known as 'songthaew', from Phuket Town. However, keep in mind that buses might not drop you off directly at the temple, and thus, a short walk or additional local transport may be needed.
• Tuk-Tuk or Taxi: If you prefer a more direct route, hiring a tuk-tuk or a taxi is an option. Always agree on the fare before leaving to avoid misunderstandings.

By Car or Motorcycle

If you prefer to explore at your own pace:

• Rental Car: Rent a car with GPS or have a map handy. Wat Chalong is well signposted, and you can park on the temple grounds.
• Motorcycle Rental: Renting a scooter or motorcycle is a popular and convenient way to get around Phuket. Make sure to have a valid international driver's license and wear a helmet for safety.

Via Tour Groups

Many tour companies in Phuket offer half-day or full-day tours that include Wat Chalong as part of the itinerary. This is a hassle-free way to visit the temple with the benefit of a guide.

Additional Tips

Here are some additional tips for your visit to Wat Chalong Temple:

• Remember to dress modestly; shoulders and knees should be covered as a sign of respect in the temple grounds.
• Remove your shoes before entering the temple halls.
• The temple is open from 7 am to 5 pm, and there is no admission fee, although donations are welcome.
