Alleppey Lighthouse stands as a testament to the maritime history of Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha, in Kerala, India. Built by the British in 1862, this towering beacon is a significant landmark in the coastal town. Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse to witness panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the picturesque surroundings, including the network of backwaters Alleppey is famous for. The lighthouse is constructed in a classic circular shape and is painted with alternating bands of red and white, making it a vivid and striking structure. Inside the lighthouse, there’s a small museum that exhibits artifacts, paintings, and informational plaques about its history and the maritime heritage of the region. The lighthouse functions as both a navigational facility and a tourist attraction, providing insights into the past while serving as a beacon for present-day mariners. Standing at 30 meters high, the Alleppey Lighthouse is one of the oldest of its kind along the Laccadive Sea coast and is well-maintained, preserving much of its original charm and functionality.

Views & History
Well worth a visit on your way to the beach or coming back from the beach . It is only a 6 km walk from town centre to beach passing by the Light House and crossing the rail tracks.
