Aloysius Chapel is located in the heart of Mangalore (Mangaluru), Karnataka, India, atop the Light House Hill with a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea. Built in 1885, it is an integral part of St. Aloysius College. The chapel is renowned for its magnificent architecture and the series of outstanding frescoes painted on its ceilings and walls by the Italian Jesuit artist Brother Antonio Moscheni in 1899, during the colonial era. The artworks depict various saints, biblical scenes, and the life of Jesus Christ, resembling the Sistine Chapel in Rome. The structure of the chapel is a fine example of Gothic architecture, with arches, ornate columns, and stained glass windows. It serves not only as a place of worship but also as a significant artistic and educational repository, attracting art enthusiasts, historians, and tourists. This peaceful sanctuary reflects the cultural richness and religious harmony of the coastal city of Mangalore.

Art Gallery without the arty feeling
It is a must see, the frescos are comparable to any where in the world, better to get someone to guide you like the caretaker because there is a lot that needs to be explained.

Beauty!
I'd heard that the chapel has beautiful paintings. Nothing can prepare you for the number and beauty of the paintings here. Awesome!
