Ardh Kuwari Cave, also known as Ardhkunwari or Garbh Joon, is a revered cave shrine situated en route to the holy Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The cave is considered to be the place where Goddess Vaishno Devi, manifested as Mata Adi Shakti, meditated for nine months before heading towards the main cave of Vaishno Devi. It is believed that during her meditation, the Goddess hid inside this cave to escape the demon Bhairo Nath. The cave is narrow and pilgrims usually have to crawl to pass through it. Inside the cave, there is a representation of Mata Vaishno Devi's three forms - Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati. Pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi Temple consider it auspicious to visit Ardh Kuwari Cave, as it is an integral part of the pilgrimage. It serves as both a spiritual waypoint and a resting spot before continuing the journey upwards to the Bhawan.
