Attidiya Bird Sanctuary is a nature reserve located on the outskirts of Colombo and is a haven for bird enthusiasts and nature lovers. It is relatively easy to reach the sanctuary due to its proximity to the capital city of Colombo.

By Public Transportation

  • Bus: You can take a bus from Colombo heading towards Ratmalana or Moratuwa and get off at the Borupana Road stop. From there, it's a short tuk-tuk or taxi ride to the sanctuary.
  • Train: Get on a train headed towards Galle and alight at Ratmalana. From Ratmalana, take a taxi or a tuk-tuk directly to Attidiya Bird Sanctuary.

By Private Vehicle or Taxi

Taking a taxi or driving a private vehicle is the most convenient way to reach Attidiya Bird Sanctuary. If you're coming from Colombo:

  1. Head south on the Galle Road (A2).
  2. Turn left onto Attidiya Road.
  3. Continue driving until you reach Borupana Road and take another left.
  4. The entrance to the sanctuary will be on your left-hand side a short distance down this road.

By Tuk-Tuk

For a more local experience, catch a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Colombo. Be sure to agree on the fare before you set off.

Note: The sanctuary is usually open daily from around 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but times can vary so it's best to check locally for the current opening hours before planning your trip.
