Best Time To Visit Barmer Fort (Barmer) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Barmer Fort in Barmer, Rajasthan

The ideal time to visit Barmer Fort, which is situated in the heart of the Thar Desert, is between the months of November to February. During this period, the climate is pleasantly cool with temperatures ranging from about 10°C to 23°C, making it the most comfortable season for tourists to explore the grandeur of the fort and the vibrant culture of Barmer. The winter season in this region is marked by sunny days perfect for sightseeing and cool nights suitable for savoring the local cuisine or joining in folk events. Additionally, the annual Barmer Festival, usually held in March, brings a carnival of Rajasthani folk music, dance, and traditional activities to life, offering a unique experience for visitors, although the weather starts to get warmer.

Visiting the fort during the summer and monsoon months from March to September is typically not recommended due to the extreme heat in the region, with temperatures soaring up to 40°C or more, and occasional heavy rainfall respectively. These conditions can be uncomfortable for outdoor activities and might hinder your exploration of the surrounding desert landscape. However, if you decide to travel during the off-season, be prepared for the heat and ensure to stay hydrated. Also, keep an eye on the local weather updates if planning your trip close to the monsoon season.
