Getting There

The Ceylon Tea Museum is situated approximately 4km south of the Kandy city center. To reach this unique destination that celebrates the history of Ceylon tea, you have several options:

By Car or Taxi

Travelling by car or taxi is the most convenient method of reaching the museum. If you're staying in Kandy, you can hire a taxi or a tuk-tuk. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand. The journey is about 15 minutes from the city center, depending on traffic. "Hantana Road" is the direct route you'll take. Rental car services are also available if you wish to drive yourself.

By Public Transport

There are also local buses that operate from the Kandy city center to Hantana where the museum is located. Ask locals for the bus numbers that travel through Hantana Road and inform the conductor that you're visiting the museum to ensure you alight at the correct stop. It's a more cost-effective method but can take longer, especially during peak hours.

By Tuk-Tuk

Tuk-tuks are widely available throughout Kandy and provide an authentic Sri Lankan travel experience. Again, ensure you agree on a price before beginning your journey.

Opening Hours

The museum is typically open from "8:30 AM to 3:45 PM," but it is advisable to check local listings or contact the museum directly to confirm current opening times, especially during public holidays and festive seasons.

An entry fee is charged for accessing the museum. There are different rates for locals and foreign tourists, and these are subject to change. It is recommended to bring local currency, as transactions are smoother in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR).
