From overseas, visitors can fly into Incheon International Airport (ICN) or Gimpo International Airport (GMP) in the Seoul metropolitan area. Although Daejeon does not have its own international airport, the city is conveniently connected to Seoul by train and express bus services.
Daejeon is well-connected to other major cities in South Korea via the KTX, South Korea's high-speed train service. Trains run frequently from Seoul Station and the journey to Daejeon Station takes about 50 minutes. Regular trains (Saemaul and Mugunghwa) also operate from Seoul and other regions but take longer.
Express and intercity bus services operate from the Seoul Express Bus Terminal and Dong Seoul Bus Terminal to Daejeon Express Bus Terminal or Daejeon Government Complex Bus Terminal. The trip usually takes around 2 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
Travelers can rent a car and drive to Daejeon from major cities like Seoul. The city is accessible via major expressways, including the Gyeongbu Expressway (No. 1) and Honam Expressway (No. 25). Driving from Seoul to Daejeon can take approximately 2 hours, depending on traffic.
Once in Daejeon, visitors can use the Daejeon Metropolitan Subway, a convenient one-line system that connects major areas of the city. Taxis and a comprehensive bus network are also available for city-wide transportation.
