About Dassam Falls

Dassam Falls, known as Dassam Ghagh in the local language, is a natural cascade located near Taimara village in the Bundu district, approximately 40 kilometers from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, India. This scenic waterfall is created by the Kanchi River, which is a tributary of the Subarnarekha River. The falls plunge from a height of about 44 meters (144 feet), creating a spectacular vision and a thunderous sound that reverberates in the lush green surroundings. As the water hits the rocky base, it gets fragmented into several streams, creating an effect of several falls in one, which is a mesmerizing sight. The ambiance around Dassam Falls is tranquil, making it an excellent spot for picnics and nature lovers who wish to escape the hustle of city life. A well-maintained descent with steps leads tourists to the foot of the waterfall. However, visitors are cautioned not to step into the water due to undercurrents.

Fantastic experience
The natural waterfalls is a must visit when in Ranchi. There are several ones, of which Dassam is nearest from Ranchi. I was alone and booked a bike for Rs 800/- One can also book a auto or cab. The bike rider was a local and he took me thru the jungle to the mountain peek from where one got a spectacular view of the waterfalls and the surrounding jungle. However, the top view is not possible if travelling by auto or car. There are no food options to speak of and so I suggest you carry eatables while visiting. Also, ensure you leave the area before dark. Best time to visit is in the morning.

Live Waterfall
You must see it from viewing point(Designated) , not from the source point. You can go down and enjoy the water from falls. Close to Ranchi - You may show it to students to show a life example of waterfalls. Not that deep as well as good staircases, so going down and climbing back will not be difficult!

Nice short Visit
Nice short tourist place around Ranchi. If you want to see waterfall from a plateaue reason then his place can be visited. You need to climb down to see main water body n again climb up for car parking area or bus stand area.

Dasham falls on the way to Ranchi
A beautiful place to visit. Situated on the outskirts of Ranchi, about 34 Km from Ranchi on the Jamsedpur-Rachi highway. You will need to go off the highway for about 10 Km. It is a really breathtaking view as the water of the Kanchi river cascades over a picturesque array of rocky terrain.
