The Deopahar Ruins in Assam, India, are located near the famed Kaziranga National Park, which is renowned for its one-horned rhinoceroses. Deopahar, literally meaning 'god's hill,' is an archaeological site that bespeaks of the region's ancient culture and history. The ruins include remnants of a stone temple and numerous sculptured stone blocks scattered across the hill. It is believed that these ruins date back to the 9th or 10th century and are linked to the medieval Kachari kingdom. The area is covered with dense forests, and the hill itself provides a vantage point offering scenic views of the surroundings, including stretches of the Kaziranga forest and the Brahmaputra river. This less-trodden historical site provides an excellent combination of natural beauty and archaeological interests, making it a fascinating visit for history buffs and nature lovers alike.
