A must-visit place
I was amazed to see the huge collection of archaeological excavated items of ancient era at this site, the critical way in which those were preserved and the study-documents.

A HIDDEN GEM
on our way from Kohima to Kaziranga, we stayed at Golaghat. the next day, while proceeding towards Kaziranga( actually an hour and half before arriving at Kaziranga forest reserve) we spotted this board outside a dilapidated building. we got off to find that the building was shut. A bit disappointed, we were about to turn back, when I spotted a rough road by the side. we started climbing the same and after about 15 minutes came to top of the Deoparbat and guess what- a most astonishing sight awaited us. tucked away, far above, were the remains of a ^th or 7th century Temple ruins, with the central dome covered by a zinc roof , (obviosly done by the ARCHEALOGY DEPARTMENT to preserve it). It had intricately carved figurines around the entire dome. possibly during an earthquake, it must have got destroyed. the place is so magical, we can weave a lot of stories around it in our minds. There was no one in sight and the peace and quiet gave it a spiritual energy, which seemed to engulf me. I spent an hour or roaming around the area. It is definitely worth a visit, from Kaziranga forest reserve , as a day trip, for sure.

Historical Site
Must see ruins near Numaligarh. One needs to walk up to reach this place but no one should miss this site to feel history.

DEOPAHAR ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE ,NUMOLIGARH ASSAM
An ancient archaeological site , 61.8 km from Kaziranga National Park towards upper Assam ,just approximately 5 km from the NH 37 towards Numoligarh refinary via Asean highway 1 .Atop a hillock , an ancient temple can be seen whose construction is either incomplete or the temple collapsed during the great Assam earthquake of 1897.A place which gives once a feel of the ancient civilisation dated back to 1000 years from now in this area.

Very beautiful but missable
Beautiful, quite isolated and a short climb up to the ruins but one can skip this. There is no information posted at the site on the history of the deoparbat ruins. You will not miss anything if you skip this!
