Best Time To Visit Doi Inthanon National Park (Chiang Mai) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Doi Inthanon National Park

The ideal time to visit Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is during the cool season which spans from November to February. During these months, the weather is particularly pleasant with average daytime temperatures ranging from 6 to 16 degrees Celsius (43 to 61 degrees Fahrenheit). This cooler climate is perfect for engaging in the Park's numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, bird watching, and visiting the waterfalls. The park's highest peak, which is also the highest in Thailand, often experiences temperatures near freezing and occasionally sees frost, an unusual and picturesque occurrence in the tropical nation.

Those visiting in the cool season will also have the chance to witness the blooming of Siamese Sakura flowers, blanketing areas of the park in shades of pink typically from late December to early February. Furthermore, the park is less crowded during weekdays as opposed to weekends when it can attract more visitors. If you're interested in experiencing the lush green landscapes and waterfalls at their most vibrant, the period just after the rainy season, around October, is also recommended. However, travellers should be prepared for occasional rain and slippery conditions on some of the trails.
