The Gopishwar Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient and significant Hindu shrines situated in the holy town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple stands as a testament to the religious harmony that is often found in Vrindavan, which is more famous for its associations with Lord Krishna. According to popular beliefs, Lord Shiva desired to be a part of Lord Krishna's rasleela with the gopis (milkmaids) and thus took the form of a gopi to gain entry into the dance. Pleased with Shiva's devotion, Krishna granted him a boon that the rasleela would not be considered complete without Shiva's participation. Hence, the deity worshipped in this temple is known as Gopishwar Mahadev. The temple's serene ambiance provides a peaceful retreat for pilgrims and visitors. Ancient trees and traditional architecture create a sense of timelessness, and the shikhara (spire) of the temple rises elegantly above the surrounding buildings.

Loved it
This is one of the old temples. Lord Shiva came here to have darshans of Bhagwan Krishna and transformed as Gopi that is the reason it was named.
