Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village is an open-air museum and cultural space located in Manipal, Udupi district of Karnataka, India. Conceived by Vijayanath Shenoy, the village is a labor of love that preserves and showcases a remarkable range of traditional Indian architecture. It is a sanctuary for rescued ancient houses and structures that faced the threat of demolition. These buildings have been carefully dismantled from their original locations across the country and painstakingly reconstructed and restored in the village. Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village spreads over an area of six acres and is home to more than twenty heritage buildings. Each structure, whether a grandiose mansion or a modest home, has its own unique story and architectural style, reflecting the diverse cultural heritage of India. Through these edifices, visitors can experience the lifestyles, art, crafts, and cultural ethos of various communities. The village offers a deep insight into the architectural splendor of the bygone eras and is an invaluable educational resource for historians, architects, and students.
